PROJECT
Torino Wireless
How can Torino‚Äôs industrial and productive sector be diversified, valorizing ability and know-how in new and promising sectors? This is the question that interested Torino Internazionale for the technological districts. The potential of the ICT sector and wireless technology were highlighted by a work table, research (commissioned by the strategic consulting company McKinsey), two workshops with companies active in the sector and the series of debates “Futuro prossimo. Dalle rIsorse al distretto,” (“The Near Future. From the Resources to the District”) concerning innovative technology, human resources and financial instruments. This investigative process, which was supported by the association, resulted in the Memorandum of Understanding, that was signed on December 11, 2001 by 18 organizations - the Government, local bodies, universities, industrial associations, banking foundations and companies in the sector. This led to the creation of Torino Wireless -www.torinowireless.it - , a foundation that has been operative since 2002 and is specialized in the acceleration of innovative companies.

How to increase the competitive power of Piemonte’s automotive industry, starting with its industrial traditions and strengthening the presence of strategic activities throughout the territory. This was the goal of the Torino Automotive Organizing Committee, that was created in March 2003. With the support of research conducted by the Roland Berger Company, the Committee evaluated the necessary conditions for creating an organism to support services in research, innovation, finance and education, thus improving products and productive processes. To this same end, in December 2003 the Gruppo Dirigenti Fiat carried out research for Torino Internazionale concerning the know-how and potential of Torino’s companies that are involved in the design and development of motor vehicles.
